COVID-19 Data Tracker Update as of June 16, 2020

As of June 16, 2020, Wisconsin continues to report the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests among the five midwestern states with 5.4% of the tests returning positive. Indiana has the highest percentage of positive cases in the midwest at 11.4%. Wisconsin’s percentage of positive tests is below the median for all states.

Illinois is leading the midwest with 9.56% of the population being tested for COVID-19. Wisconsin has tested 7.29% of the population, which is above the median of 6.91% for all states.

Wisconsin is still seeing a decreasing trend in the percentage of COVID-19 positive patients being hospitalized, as well as the rate of hospitalized patients being admitted to the ICU.

COVIDTracking.com has launched COVIDExitStrategy.org, which shows how each state is performing on key measures.  Here are some stats on how the state of Wisconsin is handling COVID-19 as of June 16, 2020:

  • The target number of tests done daily remains at 100% of the goal, with a 7-day average of 10,298 tests. The 14-day trend of COVID-19 positive cases has been decreasing. 
  • Wisconsin is now reporting “minimal” influenza like illnesses.
  • ICU bed availability is rated as “normal,” as is hospital bed availability.
  • Wisconsin is seeing a 56-day doubling time for incidence of COVID-19, a rate which has been steadily increasing. Increasing indicates the infection rate is slowing.
