As of July 6, 2020, Wisconsin continues to report the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests among the five midwestern states with 5.6% of the tests returning positive. Indiana continues to have the highest percentage of positive cases in the midwest at 9.5%. Wisconsin’s percentage of positive tests is below the median for all states.
The median for all states and Wisconsin have both seen a decreasing trend of the percentage of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, as well as the rate of hospitalized patients being admitted to the ICU.In Wisconsin, the two-day change in positive tests as a percent of people tested spiked to 11% over the holiday weekend, one of the highest rates in the nation. But, there was also a significant decline in testing in Wisconsin. It is also notable that there were no deaths reported over the weekend and the number of COVID-19 patients admitted to the hospital dropped by more than half (73 to 31).
