COVID-19 Data Tracker Update as of May 27, 2020

As of May 27, 2020, Wisconsin continues to report the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests among the five midwestern states with 7.3% of the tests returning positive. Wisconsin’s percentage of positive tests is also below the median for all states, which are reporting a 7.9% positive rate for COVID-19 tests. Like Wisconsin, the median for all states has had a steady decrease in the percentage of COVID-19 tests returning as positive.

Wisconsin is still seeing a decreasing trend in the percentage of COVID-19 positive patients being hospitalized, with the rate nearly cutting in half since April 13, 2020.  Among those hospitalized, 3% fewer are admitted to the ICU.

We are still continuing to watch the states that opened a few weeks ahead of Wisconsin to see the impact on their percentage of positive COVID-19 tests.

  • The percentage of positive COVID-19 tests are decreasing.
  • The target number of tests done daily has been reaching 91% of the goal (with a 7-day average of 7,945 tests).  With this, the 14-day trend of COVID-19 positive patients has also increased. 
  • Wisconsin is the only state reporting a high incidence of influenza-like illnesses.
  • ICU bed availability is rated as “normal,” as is hospital bed availability.
  • Wisconsin is currently seeing a 23-day doubling time for incidence of COVID-19.
