With the Supreme Court ruling last week to end the Stay at Home order, Wisconsin has been slowly reopening businesses, retail, restaurants, and bars. While it is too early to see if, or how, Wisconsin’s reopening will impact COVID-19 rates, and medical and hospital resources, the COVID-19 Tracker report from our data team at BSG Analytics will be a great resource to show any upticks in case counts and hospitalizations.
As of May 19, 2020, Wisconsin continues to report the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests among the five midwestern states with 8.1% of the tests returning positive. Wisconsin has also tied the median of all states, which shows 8.1% of all COVID-19 tests returning as positive. The median for all states has had a steady decrease in the percentage of COVID-19 tests returning as positive.
A common trend between Wisconsin and the median for all states is that the percentage of COVID-19 positive patients being hospitalized is decreasing. The percentage of COVID-19 patients being hospitalized in Wisconsin has decreased 13% since April 13 and among those hospitalized, almost 3% fewer are now being admitted to the ICU.
