This compliance bulletin discusses how the CARES Act provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits, plus an additional $600 monthly benefit, for weeks ending before July 31, 2020. When reviewing the benefits for your state, remember there may be differences between state and federal law. For example, as of this writing on April 10, 2020, Wisconsin legislators have not elected to waive the state’s one week waiting period. Unemployment laws for all states can be found by using the free and publicly available Smart Chart created and maintained by Wolters Kluwer.
