Updated: Two More States and the District of Columbia Introduce Mid-Year Special Enrollment due to COVID-19

The list of states offering special enrollment in response to COVID-19 now includes California, the District of Columbia and Vermont.  

Each state determines the ending date for the special enrollment period, but common ending dates are April 8, 2020 and April 15, 2020.

Employers operating in these states may wish to alert employees to the opportunity. Each state controls the application process, including whether the insured is eligible for financial assistance. Generally, families and individuals with income below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for assistance on a sliding scale.
