Recognizing and Addressing Employee Burnout During the Pandemic

Employees who remain working during the pandemic, either remotely or on the job site, may be experiencing increasing levels of stress and burnout. Maintaining work-life balance is becoming more and more difficult and employees are being challenged to work and live in new ways. This includes using new physical safeguards and new technologies. Methods employees formerly used to manage stress may be unavailable. Further, they may be touched by COVID-19 themselves or even lose loved ones to the disease. Additionally, no one can look forward to “vacations."

This article discusses situations and staff behaviors that managers should watch for, and strategies that they can adopt to address these challenges during this difficult time.
