Last month, the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations were approved for emergency use within the United States. As of January 15, 2021 the CDC estimates 31.2M vaccine doses have been distributed in the United States with 10.6M people receiving their first dose of the vaccine. As the vaccine rolls out, the question is becoming: How many people are willing to receive it? The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) has been tracking people’s willingness to receive the vaccine. Between September 2020 and December 2020, willingness has increased 8 percentage points, with 71% of respondents saying they “definitely” or “probably” will get it; however, 27% of respondents remain hesitant.

Public opinion over whether the vaccination should be required is evenly split: 49% believe vaccination is a personal choice while 49% believe it is everyone’s responsibility to get the vaccine to protect the health of others, according to the survey.
