What It Took to Become One of the Nation’s Top 10 Workplaces in Insurance

Great Places to Work 2015

Working in insurance can be tough. Our associates see a concentrated dose of what can go wrong in life. Every day, they work with clients who have experienced damage to their property, have had their employees injured in workplace accidents, or who have personal health claims. When a client contacts our associates in any of these situations, it’s up to the associate to ask the right questions and be a reassuring advocate on their behalf so that the matter is quickly and appropriately addressed and our client can get back to running their business.

Ours is an industry rife with metaphorical mountains that employees must summit. How does one keep the mountain-climbers happy?

We think the answer to that question is pivotal to good business. That’s why we’re proud to share that Hausmann-Johnson Insurance, Inc., has been named by Great Place to Work and Fortune as one of the country’s 10 Best Workplaces in Insurance. Rankings were based entirely on anonymous surveys of more than 86,000 employees in the insurance industry.

A person whose job is to know all about good insurance and benefits expects to get them.

Our associates are profoundly aware of how proper insurance and retirement planning can help people in bad situations. It makes perfect sense that their expectations for a robust employee-benefits package should be high. It’s our job to meet those needs, particularly if we expect them to turn around and provide the highest level of care to our clients. So, we make sure to deliver.

It’s not as simple as being generous with healthcare coverage, retirement options, and vacation days.

As Muhammed Ali once said, “It isn’t the mountains ahead that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” Our leadership team always has an eye out for those proverbial pebbles and ways to keep them out of our employees’ proverbial shoes. It’s the reason for our liberal open-door policy. Because we care about cultivating a comfortable workplace, our associates can bring any question or concern to leadership. And from experience, they know it will be heard and answered. That’s what it takes—treating employees like we want them to treat our clients.
